What is Tak?

Tak is an Abstract Strategy game for two-players designed by James Ernest and published by Cheapass Games. Tak is based on the game in the fantasy series, The Kingkiller Chronicles, by Patrick Rothfuss.

How is Tak played?


At its core, Tak is fairly simple to learn and get into. The goal is to connect the two sides of the board with a series of stones. On a player's turn they may either place a stone on the board or move a stack of pieces. What does Tinuë mean?

Tinuë is similar to checkmate in chess. It is the position at which regardless of how the responding player moves, the original player will win.
