Tak FAQ

What is Tak?

Tak is an Abstract Strategy game for two-players designed by James Ernest and published by Cheapass Games. Tak is based on the game in the fantasy series, The Kingkiller Chronicles, by Patrick Rothfuss.

How is Tak played?

At its core, Tak is fairly simple to learn and get into. The goal is to connect the two sides of the board with a series of stones. On a player's turn they may either place a stone on the board or move a stack of pieces. There are a few intricacies, and the full rule set can be found online at: http://cheapass.com/sites/default/files/TakBetaRules3-10-16.pdf or explained by James in a recent video:

How can I play Tak?

Tak can be played online at playtak.com (currently in beta).  The development of Tak and physical components can be supported on its Kickstarter page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cheapassgames/tak-a-beautiful-game/
